A different approach to coaching

A Space to Pause, Reset, and Move Forward

Life does not always unfold the way we expected. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply aware that something needs to change — even if we cannot yet see what that change looks like.

Come About Coaching was created to offer a calm, supportive, and future-focused space for people navigating life’s transitions. Whether you are facing change, rebuilding confidence, feeling emotionally exhausted, or searching for greater clarity and direction, coaching provides the opportunity to pause, reflect, and begin moving forward in a more intentional way.

  • At Come About Coaching, the focus is not on endlessly revisiting the past or becoming overwhelmed by trying to change everything at once. Instead, coaching is centred around creating clarity, understanding what feels stuck, and identifying meaningful steps forward.

My approach is grounded in a “one step at a time” philosophy. I believe lasting change often begins through small but intentional shifts — one conversation, one insight, and one decision at a time.

While I recognise the importance of the experiences that shape us, coaching with me is future-focused and action-oriented rather than deeply therapeutic or crisis-based. Sessions are designed to help you better understand where you are now, what may be keeping you stuck, and what direction feels right moving forward.

I also draw inspiration from focused and single-session coaching approaches, working with the belief that even one meaningful conversation can create clarity, momentum, and lasting perspective shifts

  • At Come About Coaching, the work is guided by a calm, compassionate, and honest approach to change and personal growth.

I believe coaching should feel supportive rather than overwhelming, grounded rather than performative, and focused on genuine progress rather than pressure or dependency.

The values at the heart of Come About Coaching are:

    Clarity

Helping people slow things down, make sense of where they are, and reconnect with what matters most.

    Compassion

Creating a supportive and non-judgemental space where people feel heard, understood, and respected.

    Honesty

Working openly and ethically, including recognising when coaching may not be the right support at a particular time.

    Intentional Change

Focusing on meaningful, manageable steps forward rather than trying to change everything at once.

    Growth Without Pressure

Believing that personal growth does not need to come through shame, urgency, or constant self-improvement.

  • Come About Coaching is designed for people who feel ready to explore change, gain clarity, and begin moving forward — even if they are unsure exactly what that looks like yet.

This coaching approach is supportive, reflective, and future-focused, helping people navigate challenges, reconnect with themselves, and create meaningful movement forward one step at a time.

While sessions may involve discussing difficult emotions or experiences, coaching is not intended as therapy, counselling, crisis intervention, or emergency mental health support. At Come About Coaching, the focus is not on working at the point of crisis, but on supporting people who feel ready to reflect, reset, and move forward in a manageable and intentional way.

For that reason, coaching may not be suitable for individuals currently experiencing acute emotional distress, severe mental health difficulties, or circumstances requiring specialist clinical support.

The discovery call provides an opportunity for us to explore whether this coaching approach feels appropriate and supportive for where you are currently. I reserve the right to decline or discontinue coaching where I feel it may not be safe, appropriate, or genuinely beneficial to continue. This is always done with care, honesty, and your wellbeing in mind.

In some situations, alternative or additional support may be the most supportive next step before coaching together.

If you’d like to explore these reasons in more detail before the introduction call, please see the section below ‘5 Reasons I’m not the coach for you’.

  • At Come About Coaching, there is no pressure to commit to long-term packages, ongoing programmes, or intensive coaching plans. I believe meaningful support should feel honest, flexible, and genuinely centred around the individual — not tied to sales targets or unnecessary commitment.

Every person’s situation, pace, and needs are different. For some people, one focused conversation may create the clarity or shift they have been needing. Others may benefit from additional sessions, follow-up support, or occasional check-ins over time.

Rather than creating pressure to “fix” everything quickly or commit to regular sessions indefinitely, coaching is approached one conversation at a time — allowing space for reflection, growth, and movement forward in a way that feels manageable and supportive.

Future sessions and follow-up check-ins can absolutely be arranged where helpful, but there is no obligation, tie-in, or expectation to continue beyond what genuinely feels beneficial for you.

The aim is to create a coaching experience that feels calm, supportive, and empowering — giving people space to move forward at their own pace, without pressure or gimmicks.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Katherine, founder of Come About Coaching.

For more than 18 years, I’ve worked across mental health, leadership, education, and support roles — helping people navigate challenges, build confidence, and move forward through periods of change. Throughout my career, I’ve supported individuals from many different walks of life, often during times where they felt stuck, overwhelmed, uncertain, or disconnected from themselves and their direction.

Alongside my professional experience, I also bring lived experience of my own mental health journey. This allows me to approach coaching not only with professional understanding, but with empathy, honesty, and genuine compassion for how difficult life can sometimes feel.

I hold a First-Class degree in Psychology, a PGCE teaching qualification, a Diploma in Leadership & Management, and certificates in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and life coaching. However, beyond qualifications, I believe the most important part of coaching is creating a space where people feel safe to pause, reflect, and begin moving forward without judgement or pressure.

I created Come About Coaching because I saw how many people felt trapped between two extremes — either facing long waiting lists and highly clinical support, or entering coaching spaces that felt overly intense, sales-driven, or disconnected from real life.

I wanted to create something different.

A calm and grounded space where people could talk honestly about where they are, gain clarity around what feels stuck, and begin moving forward one step at a time. A space without pressure, gimmicks, or the expectation to have everything figured out.

The name Come About comes from the sailing term for intentionally changing direction. For me, it represents the moment we stop drifting, reconnect with ourselves, and choose a new course forward — even when life feels uncertain.

My aim is not to “fix” people, but to support them in reconnecting with their own strengths, direction, and ability to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

5 Reasons I am not the coach for you.

Let's be honest — no coach is right for everyone, and that's okay.

Finding the right person to work with matters. Coaching works best when there is a good connection, a shared understanding of what you're hoping to achieve, and an approach that feels right for you.

Come About Coaching won't be the right fit for everybody, just as not every client will be the right fit for me. I'd much rather be honest about that from the start than try to be all things to all people.

With that in mind, here are a few reasons why this coaching approach might not be right for you...

  • If you're hoping I'll give you all the answers, tell you exactly what decisions to make, or provide a step-by-step plan for your life, I'm probably not the coach for you.

That's not because I don't care or don't have ideas. It's because I believe you are the expert on your own life.

My role is to ask questions, challenge your thinking, help you see things more clearly, and support you in finding the answers that feel right for you.

Sometimes that can be uncomfortable because there isn't always a simple answer. But in my experience, the changes that last are the ones that come from your own insight and decisions, not from someone else telling you what to do.

  • If you're hoping for one conversation that magically solves everything, I'm probably not the coach for you.

Don't get me wrong — I believe a single session can create powerful shifts, fresh perspective, and real momentum. But meaningful change still requires honesty, reflection, and a willingness to take action.

Coaching can help you find your direction. Walking the path is still up to you.

The good news? You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need to be willing to take the next step.

  • If you're in the middle of a mental health crisis, feeling unsafe, or struggling to cope day-to-day, coaching with me is unlikely to be the right support right now.

Come About Coaching is designed for people who feel ready to move forward, even if they're not yet sure what that looks like. It isn't a replacement for therapy, crisis support, or specialist mental health services.

There is no judgement in that. Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is seek the right support for where we are.

If I don't believe coaching is the best option for you at this time, I'll always be honest about that.

  • I know that sounds blunt, but hear me out.

Most of us have things we'd like to be different. Better relationships. More confidence. Greater fulfilment. A career change. Better boundaries. More balance. A stronger sense of purpose.

The problem is that it's easy to spend months, or even years, waiting for the right time, the right opportunity, or the confidence to magically appear before we take action.

Unfortunately, life doesn't usually work that way.

Change often asks something of us. It might mean having a difficult conversation, making a decision you've been avoiding, letting go of an old story, or taking a step into the unknown.

None of that has to happen overnight, and you don't need to have everything figured out.

But there does need to be a willingness to do something differently.

My role is to help you find clarity, build confidence, and support you as you move forward. But I can't create change for you. At some point, you have to be willing to step into it yourself.

  • I don't believe good coaching creates dependency.

My goal isn't to have you booking sessions with me for years because you feel you can't move forward without me. My goal is to help you build clarity, confidence, and trust in your own ability to make decisions and navigate life's challenges.

Some people benefit from one session. Others return for occasional check-ins or additional support when life throws something new their way.

    Both are completely fine.

What matters is that any coaching we do together feels genuinely useful and led by your needs — not by pressure, obligation, or a package you've already paid for.
